BACK UP & MOVE

How to make an encrypted backup of photos and files

MemoVault’s Backup feature creates an encrypted archive of supported vault content. You can keep that archive on your current device or copy it somewhere else for safekeeping or a phone transfer.

Step by step

  1. Put the content in your vault

Import the photos, videos or documents you want to keep, and verify them inside the vault. Backup works with supported vault data; it is not a command that encrypts every ordinary photo folder on your phone.

  2. Open Backup

From the vault home screen, open Backup. Review the current-vault summary, file counts, estimated size and any private app data shown as included.

  3. Create the archive

Choose “Create encrypted backup”. Follow the prompts to choose a destination and enter the backup password. Use a strong, unique password and keep it somewhere you can access when restoring.

  4. Wait and check the saved file

Let the operation finish. Check that the backup archive is present in the folder you selected. Keep your existing usable copies while you verify that the backup can be restored.

  5. Store the backup for its purpose

You can retain the archive in the chosen folder on this phone. If you need protection against losing the phone, keep an additional copy somewhere separate from it.

Does this encrypt the original photos too?

This process creates an encrypted backup archive. It does not mean every original photo, video or document elsewhere on your phone has been encrypted or removed. Review other copies separately.

Can I keep it on the same phone?

Yes: choose a local destination for the archive. Keeping it on that same device does not protect it against every problem affecting the whole device, such as loss or storage failure.

What do I need to open it again?

Use “Restore encrypted backup” in MemoVault and enter the same backup password. Secret Core Studios cannot decrypt the archive for you if that password is lost.

Will deleting a photo update an old backup?

No. Deleting something inside MemoVault does not delete a backup archive you already created. Manage older archives separately when deciding which copies you want to keep.
