MANAGING FILES

How to organise private photos into albums

Albums help you find groups of pictures inside the vault. They organise your private collection; they do not create a backup or move the pictures into your normal gallery.

Step by step

  1. Create your album

Open Photos and switch to the Albums tab. Choose “Create New Album”, enter a name and confirm creation.

  2. Select the pictures

Return to the photo list. Press and hold a photo to enter selection mode, then select the pictures you want to organise.

  3. Move them into the album

Choose “Move to Album” and select the destination. Wait for the move to finish, then open the album to check its contents.

  4. Rename an album

Use the album’s actions, available by pressing and holding it, and choose “Rename Album”. Enter the new name and save it.

  5. Merge albums when needed

From the source album’s actions, choose “Merge into Another Album” and select a destination. This combines the contents and removes the source album, so check which album you selected before confirming.

Does deleting an album keep its pictures?

The Photos screen’s action is explicitly called “Delete Album & Contents”. Treat it as an action on the pictures as well as the album, and read the choice between Trash and permanent deletion. To reorganise pictures you want to keep, move them or merge albums instead.

Are albums included in a backup?

Encrypted Backup supports album organisation alongside supported vault files. Make a current archive before major changes if you need a recovery copy of your collection.
